The Sage Network

engage, grow, thrive

Who We Are & Why Us...

We are two Occupational Therapists who work within the NHS and love what we do but also know that 'real life' happens beyond the hospital.

Our aim is to engage with people through a range of group and individual activities including community gardening groups, bespoke workshops, Touch Therapy, Dementia Care Mapping and tailor made therapy programmes. Supporting people to grow and thrive in their local communities, their homes, their families and their care settings.

We work within and alongside Care Homes introducing a therapeutic approach via horticultural activities adapted for individuals as well as staff training ensuring that teams feel  ready and confident to care.

Please get in touch if you would like to know more about how we can support you, your loved one or your care home via our email: info@the-sage-network.co.uk

Our Services

We work therapeutically with both adults and children to offer the most appropriate and beneficial services to enhance well-being for people living with physical and mental health conditions, learning difficulties and those who are socially isolated and want to build meaningful connections.

Therapeutic Sessions

Bespoke Therapy Workshops and Individual programs: Designed to meet the unique needs of each participant, offering therapeutic experiences that promote healing and personal development - within gardens, homes or care settings.

Monthly Workshops: We are developing a timetable of workshops that are designed to be affordable, accessible and focused on a seasonal activity.

Touch Therapy: We offer this gentle and accessible hand massage therapy - either to individuals or groups as a session to support calm and wellbeing. This session is supportive of everyone including people living with dementia and those people receiving palliative care.

Dementia Care Mapping: Our specialised programs support individuals with dementia and their families, offering compassionate care and innovative techniques to enhance quality of life.

Community Gardens

We are currently based in:

Charlton Shopping Centre Dover Community Garden (CT16 1TT) - Mondays 10am - 12pm

Home Farm Trust, Lympne Place, Lympne Community Garden (CT21 4PA)- Tuesdays 10am - 12pm

We are currently planning an exciting, third community garden space in Canterbury.

Community Gardening Groups: Join our gardening groups to cultivate not just plants, but friendships and community spirit. These groups provide a serene environment for relaxation, learning, and connecting with others who share a passion for nature.

No skills are needed and all community garden sessions are free of charge.

Care Homes

In addition to our community-focused initiatives, The Sage Network partners with care homes to introduce therapeutic sessions that focus on horticulture and connection to gardens and nature.

We encourage staff to join the sessions and provide the opportunity for staff to observe and ask questions as a first step in staff training. Our goal is to ensure that care teams feel prepared and confident in delivering exceptional care. We offer:

  • Therapeutic Sessions: Our evidence-based techniques enhance the well-being of residents and create a nurturing environment that promotes engagement, sharing and joy.
  • Staff Training: We equip care teams with the skills and knowledge they need to provide compassionate, effective care. Our training programs focus on building confidence and competence in care-giving
